Firmware

Optra Edge devices run portal-managed firmware that is updated over the air. The portal tracks each device's current firmware version and notifies you when an update is available.

Checking the firmware version

The current firmware version is displayed in two places:

  • Devices list — shown in the device row under the Firmware Version column.
  • Device detail → Overview tab — shown in the device summary at the top.

Updating firmware

When a newer firmware version is available for a device, an Update Firmware button or badge appears in the device detail view.

Update a single device

  1. Open the device detail view.
  2. Click Update Firmware.
  3. Confirm the update in the dialog that appears.

The device will download and apply the new firmware. During the update, the device briefly reboots. The status indicator shows Updating throughout this process.

Bulk firmware update

You can update firmware on multiple devices at once from the Devices list:

  1. Select the devices you want to update (use the checkbox on each row, or select all).
  2. Click Update Firmware in the bulk actions bar.
  3. Confirm the update.

All selected devices will be updated to their latest available firmware versions.

Firmware update statuses

After an update is triggered, the device progresses through a series of statuses:

StatusMeaning
RequestingThe update request has been sent to the device
DownloadingThe device is downloading the firmware package
DownloadedThe download is complete; waiting to apply
ApplyingThe firmware is being written to the device
RebootingThe device is restarting after applying the update
ReadyThe device is running the new firmware successfully
ErrorThe update failed — see Troubleshooting below

The status is shown in the device detail header while an update is in progress.

Release notes

When updating firmware, you can review the release notes for the new version in the update dialog. Release notes describe what changed and any important notes about the update.
